GC Vision
What are Gospel Community Groups?
Gospel communities (GC's) are smaller groups of people (around 6-20) committed to each other and to their neighbors - their desire is to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ transform lives. Thus GC's open their lives to one another (Acts 2:42-46) and are inviting to those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord God and Savior and Life-giver. GC's are simple, ordinary people doing ordinary things with a Gospel mindset together. At Valley we believe that what you see on Sunday is hte tip of the iceberg - meaning that 'church' really happens on a smaller, more intimate, everyday level where people live out the new identity they have in Jesus found in the Gospel:
Missionaries: We live actively as Jesus' Gospel missionaries, sent to make disciples. Family: We are children of GOD in Christ Jesus our Lord who live and care for each other as family. Servants: We are servants of our Lord Jesus Christ living to serve others in His name with our everyday life. Learners: We are disciples of Jesus who take responsibility for our own growth in following Jesus Christ as well as the development of others.
Gospel Communties are central to our vision to glorify GOD by making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ. We desire to redeem the culture of this world by bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to impact our neighborhoods and networks of relationships through our gospel community groups. Our GC's are designed to produce disciple-making disciples of Jesus Christ who impact their world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
How do I Get Connected with a Gospel Community?
We would love to get you connected to a Gospel Community. We have groups that meet throughout the week in various neighborhoods, on various days, and have various missions in the Great Falls area. Currently we are just getting this ministry fully established so it is a great time to get in on the ground floor of a Gospel Community that is just being planted or re-planted. Whether you are exploring what it means to follow Jesus or looking for community with fellow Christians, all of our GC’s love visitors and regularly expect them. Feel free to visit a few different groups as you seek to find a good fit for you and your family. To join a Gospel Community you can just show up, call or text the leader for more information, or fill out a Gospel Community interest form when you come to a worship gathering here at Valley.
What do Gospel Communities do?
GC’s are the primary place at Valley where we gather to live out our core gospel identities as worshipers, family, servants, witnesses, and learners of Jesus Christ.
Worshipers – Our GC’s have regular rhythms of worship (prayer, confession, repentance, and renewed faith in Jesus). We are a redeemed community continually delighting in the gospel of Jesus Christ! We want to live daily worshiping Jesus through Bible reading, prayer, confession, repentance and faith. The gospel of Jesus Christ transforms and shapes all of life and our groups encourage and spur one another on to living as worshipers of Jesus.
Family – We cultivate within our groups and seek to live as family as we gather to spend time with each other through meals, recreation, sports, etc. We seek to live in unity, service and love for each other as we are God’s redeemed kingdom community.
Servants – Our groups seek opportunities to regularly serve our neighborhoods, our church, each other, and others in our spheres of influence who do not know Jesus. We seek to display the gospel in the way we love and serve others.
Witnesses – Our GC’s seek to model life as a redeemed community of sent people. The good news of Jesus Christ is for all people, from all places, and in all of life. Therefore, mission is at the heart of our Gospel Communities as we seek to serve and love in word and deed to see the gospel transform ourselves, our city and our world. With truth and love we invite all people to follow Jesus with us.
Learners – in our GC’s we seek to live as disciples of Jesus growing in our knowledge and love of God. We long for each other to love and treasure Jesus more and more as the knowledge of God transforms and re-informs all of life. The groups regularly gather to study the Bible (usually the text of the message from Sunday or a book of the Bible) because we recognize spiritual growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ happens life on life, in community and on mission as we grow together in our knowledge and application of the life-changing gospel Word in every area of our lives.
