Why We Exist
Welcome!
Valley Community Bible Church is a gospel community on mission with Jesus to our time and town and beyond. We believe the church exists in the world to display the glory of God in Christ Jesus our Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:41-48; 1 Peter 2:9-10; 2 Corinthians 4 & 5).
Why do we exist as a church?
At Valley we believe the mission of the church is not hard to understand; We exist to glorify GOD by making more and better followers of Jesus Christ (MT. 16:18; Mt 28; Mark 16:14-15; Luke 24:44-49; John 20:21; Acts 1:8). As we seek to accomplish our mission we have 7 core values which we desire to permeate everything we do as a church. Our core values flow from our commitment to see our mission/vision multiply to impact more and more of the Great Falls area with the gospel of Jesus Christ seeing more and more people become white-hot worshipers of Jesus Christ the Son of the living God.
7 Core Values
God-glorifying! We want to live for GOD’S glory in all things! At Valley we believe we exist to glorify GOD by enjoying Him forever! We are gathered as a people of Jesus called Valley to joyfully boast in the grace and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:3-14; 1 Cor. 1:26-2:5). It is not about us, it is all about Jesus and His Gospel Glory (1 Cor. 9:23; 10:31-33; 2Cor. 4:1-6).
Grace-full! We want to live by and in GOD’S grace! We are all poster children for GOD’S grace (Ephesians 2:1-10). We freely acknowledge that our only hope for a restored relationship with God and others is through the grace that the Lord Jesus purchased for us with His perfect life, death on the cross and victorious resurrection.
Bible-saturated! We want to live through the truth of the Word of God! The Bible is our alone source for truth and our guide for what we believe and how we live. We believe God’s Word changes lives and that real life change comes through the Truth of God’s Word (John 17:17; Psalm 19; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Therefore we value expository preaching, biblical doctrinal teaching, reading, studying, meditating upon and living in glad-hearted obedience to God’s Word which is life to us (Psalm 1; 19:7-11; Isaiah 55:10-11; Matthew 4:4; 2 Timothy 3:18-4:8)
Holy Spirit-dependent! We want to live empowered by the Holy Spirit! We have no desire to see the ministry of this church powered by our own strength We will therefore rely on the Holy Spirit whom Jesus promised to lead, empower, and equip us to worship, pray, and keep in step with Him in every aspect of our ministry and our lives (Eph. 5:15-21; 6:10-20; Galatians 5:22-25).
Gospel-focused! We want to live as Jesus’ gospel people in this world seeking to spread His gospel glory in a relational and relevant way to all! We are convinced that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe (Romans 1:16-17). Therefore we believe that all people matter to God. No matter how far away from God they may seem or how entangled in man-made religion they may be we desire to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ (Luke 15; 2 Cor. 5:14-21) We believe that Jesus came to seek and to save the lost and that His mission continues today through His gospel-centered local churches.
Disciple-making! We want to grow as disciple-making followers of our Lord Jesus Christ! Real disciple-making ministry happens in the context of smaller groups. The early church met house to house and this is where disciples were made. Just as Jesus created a small gospel community in order to make disciples so we too will seek to multiply gospel community groups designed to help people grow as disciples of Christ and reach out to our neighborhoods, networks and our city as gospel ambassadors of Jesus Christ. We are committed to being a disciple-making church helping people to grow up Christ and build their lives around the gospel of Jesus Christ in community with others and on mission with Jesus to our city. Through loving relationships and real honest gospel community we aim to make fully devoted, disciple-making followers of Jesus Christ.
Kingdom-multiplying! We want to see the Kingdom of Jesus advance in our day! We believe that healthy things reproduce: healthy disciples reproduce more and better disciples; healthy gospel community groups reproduce more and better gospel community groups; healthy churches reproduce more and better campuses and churches. Therefore we will seek to go into the kingdom of darkness to do as much damage as we can for the advancement of Jesus’ gospel kingdom. We desire to live full-out for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom and glory (Mt. 16:18, 28:16-20; Acts 1:8, Acts 13; John 4).
